Officials search for woman who left Iowa City mental health facility

IOWA CITY — Officials from several jurisdictions are searching for a woman who walked away from an Iowa City mental health facility Sunday.

Vanessa Jones, 35, was reported missing from Chatham Oaks, 4515 Melrose Ave., at 5:34 p.m. Sunday. Chatham Oaks is a treatment facility for individuals with chronic mental illness.

Jones is described as a white female with brown hair and green eyes, approximately 5 feet 4 inches tall and 160 pounds. She was last seen wearing a red sweater, pants, and pink Crocs sandals. She reportedly walked west from Chatham Oaks and entered a field to the south.
